Fire Protection for Wind Turbines
Active fire suppression in wind turbines is typically only possible at the tower base. Without intervention options for a fire in the nacelle area — where component density is highest — an automatic fire protection system is a sensible measure. Systems generally fall into three categories: detection, alarm, and suppression.
We believe that protecting the asset and preventing fire spread is most effectively achieved through automatic stationary fire suppression systems. These systems should provide both room and equipment protection and be configured either as high-pressure CO₂ or fine-spray water suppression systems [1].
